Camp Games and Crafts (10:00 - 11:00)
What time is it Mr. Fox? It’s time to play your favorite summer camp games and make summer mementos! This class combines your artistic and your athletic sides - best of both worlds! You will be equipped with accessories and plenty of fun games to play at recess.
Make-a-messterpiece (10:00 - 11:00)
Spend your summer immersing yourself with art! Don’t be afraid to get messy while we make goop, “mud” play doh, melt crayons, and other messterpieces! It’s time to unleash your creative spirit!
Minute to Win It (10:00 - 11:00)
Compete in and create fast paced challenges! Students will race against the clock and each other to complete a variety of skill and movement activities. What can you do in a minute??
PE Games (10:00 - 11:00)
Do you wish P.E. and all the fun games were available year round? Now they are! Play all your favorite games that you do during the school year in P.E., such as battleship, kickball, pin guard, and capture the flag this summer.
Puppet Pals (10:00 - 11:00)
Help your imagination come alive...with puppets! Students will have an opportunity to engage in dramatic play, creativity, imaginary worlds, improvisations, and most of all have fun! Puppet pals allows students to take theatrical risks through drama and improv games, theater sports, and readers' theater. Puppeteers will end the summer with a performance!
Funology (10:00 - 11:00)
Come stretch your brain and get your hands dirty as we explore the many areas of science! We'll launch mini rockets, suspend beads in a bottle, investigate a crime scene, and work with the ooey-gooey!
Oven Free Snacks and Treats (10:00 - 11:00)
It's the Great American Bake off…without an oven! Who says you can't make delicious foods without an oven? In this class we will cook and eat a variety of tasty treats. We will explore pancakes, waffles, ice creams, frozen pies, and more! Chefs will receive a cookbook at the end to share these oven-less creations with you. Join us for a summer of fun creating and eating! *Please note this class includes food preparation and consumption.
Backyard Art (10:00 - 11:00)
Step into our backyard and make art and craft projects while enjoying the summer weather! Tie dye, bird houses, nature mosaics, and jewelry and candle making along with many more hands-on activities will be made this summer.
Game Show Showdown (10:00 - 11:00)
You're the next contestant to spin the Wheel of Fortune in this Minute to Win It! Spend your summer climbing the 1000 dollar pyramid on your way to Family Feud. Students will play a variety of at home game shows and create their own to bring to your family game night.
Summer Yoga (10:00 - 11:00)
Namaste. Join us for a healthy way to keep your mind and body balanced this summer. Activities will include sun salutations, balancing and breathing exercises, guided meditations, and more.
Chess Masters (10:00 - 11:00)
Whether you are a beginner or advanced player, come learn and play chess in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. We will develop chess skills, work on tactics and strategies, and make new friends! Both casual and competitive players are welcome.
Coding and 3D Design (10:00 - 11:00)
You don't need a decoder ring to read this code! Learn how to program websites, apps, and games. Stay cool this summer and learn computer coding and how to make ideas come alive with 3D printing.
Beyond the Selfie (10:00 - 11:00)
Get an introduction to photography…beyond the selfie. Students will use digital cameras and iPads to complete photography games, photo challenges, and photo hunts. Join us, and create a summer journal through pictures -- Say cheese!
Nature Immersion (10:00 - 11:00)
Unplug from technology and take a step with us into nature. Learn about sustainability like gardening, recycling, composting, and water filtration. Explore the local nature trail with tree identification, bird watching, and meditation. Students will make nature collages, flower pressings, leaf rubbings, and work in South School's garden.
Party Planning (10:00 - 11:00)
Who likes a party? We like a party! Students will put into practice all the details of planning a party to host various themed parties each week! Students will send invitations, make decorations, make snacks, and plan activities. The guest list includes fun! *Please note this class includes food preparation.
Stop Motion Animation (10:00 - 11:00)
Calling all Lego Movie Fans! Stop Motion Animation is a unique, creative, and exciting way to design and produce your own short films. Each week students will learn various stop motion techniques, and put these skills to practice while creating their own stop motion animation movies. Roll out the red carpet for your young producer!
The Original Kids in the Kitchen (10:00 - 11:00)
A new yummy creation everyday! Students will prepare and cook kid-friendly recipes and enjoy the delicious results. Brand new recipes as well as previously voted popular recipes will be prepared. Students will learn nutrition, measuring skills, and kitchen safety. The culinary adventure will end with a recipe book to take home. *Please note this class includes food preparation and consumption.
Fractured Fairy Tales and more! (10:00 - 11:00)
Have you heard the story about Goldilocks and her rock band of bears? The Three Little Pigs and their teacher, the Wolf? The story of Little Red Riding Hood from the perspective of Granny? No? Well now is your time to write them! Learn about different Fairy Tales, myths, and legends then turn them around and make them your own. Reinvent stories and create new ones! Explore your creative side this summer.
Jogging Club (10:00 - 11:00)
Jogging club is just that - jogging! Start your day with a quick warm up followed by a jog around Glencoe, followed by a cool down stretch. Science shows that working out benefits our bodies AND minds!
Poetry Corner (10:00 - 11:00)
Roses are red, violets are blue, we want to write poetry with you! Join our poets' corner while you find your creative voice and learn about and write different styles of poetry. Our young poets will end the summer with a collection of poems to share.
Intro to Rocketry (10:00 - 11:00)
In this introduction to model rocketry class, students will build their own rockets while learning how to read detailed plans, use materials carefully and problem solve their launches. The history, physics and principles of rocketry will be explored. Students will experience the thrill of launching their own rocket creation. Don’t worry, with the re-launch shoot you will find your rocket after every blast off.
Mock Trial (10:00 - 11:00)
Please rise for the honorable judge. Students will be divided into teams and roles, review cases, and compete in a mock trial. Students will play the roles of lawyers and witnesses while learning skills they can use in school and beyond. How will you convince the jury?
Team Sports (10:00 - 11:00)
Game on! Learn team sports skills, and the art of sportsmanship through playing a variety of team sports. Each week a variety of skills and game strategies will be taught and practiced in game play. Such sports may include basketball, soccer, flag football, softball, kickball, floor hockey or whiffle ball.
Tourney Time (10:00 - 11:00)
Round Robin to March Madness - learn and develop your skills in a variety of sports, races, and games through daily or weekly tournaments. Tournaments will include individual and team activities.
Tabletop (10:00 - 11:00)
Enjoy a social and imaginative experience playing the most popular tabletop role playing game…Dungeons and Dragons. Dungeon masters will learn the rules, create characters, and work together as adventurers to overcome challenges and foes. Other role playing and civilization development games like Settler of Catan and Flashpoint will be played. Don't worry, 20 sided die included.
